abstract

Now in my 6th year of starting-up a healthcare IT company - the process has not been trivial nor straight forward. I will discuss some of the successes and failures that I've experienced along the way. I will share some lessons learned for the aspiring entrepreneurs in the audience and then open the floor to questions.

biography

Jay completed computer science at U. Waterloo, and subsequently worked in a hospital IT department, a scientific information publisher in the US, a mid-sized software publisher, and contract software development for 6 Canadian federal agencies. He is a recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal's Forty under 40 Award in 2009, Industry Canada Innovation Leader also in 2009, and was Chair of the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) Path to Recognition (PTR) National Steering Committee. He is currently CEO of PatientWay, which develops products to streamline the flow of information about patients from their primary care physician through to the clinical area of a hospital.
