Abstract

The aim of this seminar is to provide you some frameworks and advice on how to approach your thesis research. Effective strategies and critical skills for undertaking a research project are discussed.

Biography

Dr. Adrian D. C. Chan received a B.A.Sc. degree in computer engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1997, a M.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada in 1999, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, Canada in 2003.

He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University and the Associate Director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Biomedical Engineering. His research interests include biological signal processing, pattern recognition, assistive devices, noninvasive sensors, and electronic noses.

He is Registered Professional Engineer, a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society and a member of the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society.
